The Role of Mural Art in Commercial Spaces:

Mural art provides a visually compelling platform to tell the story of a brand. From the inception and values to the journey and aspirations, murals can encapsulate the essence of a brand narrative. This makes the customers feel more connected to the brand and feel like a part of the journey.

A well-crafted mural becomes a distinctive element of a brand's visual identity. Customized murals can incorporate brand colors, logos, and thematic elements that resonate with the target audience. The murals can be specially designed to target a particular age group, gender or interests. Here's a mural that I painted for "Feel the Creator" BnB at Tiruvannamalai. The entire city is very close to spirituality and peace. The owner wanted to convey the same through this mural. The mural also shows different auras of a human bring which can be felt via meditation and spirituality.
3. Creating a Memorable Impression:
Murals have the power to leave a lasting impression on customers. The unique and immersive nature of mural art captures attention and sets a brand apart from competitors. Unique picture worthy or murals having a strong message are remembered by the customers.
Choosing the Right Mural for Your Brand:
1. Aligning with Brand Values:
The choice of mural design should align seamlessly with the core values and personality of the brand. Whether it's a modern and sleek aesthetic or a more rustic and artisanal feel, the mural should reflect the brand's essence. This involves a detailed conversation between the brand and the artist, to understand the ideology, any inspirations, expectations and other aspects of the mural. I painted a mural for a Bamboo themed cafe. The entire concept was bamboo and traditional feeling. They had red walls all around and wanted a mural on it. I decided to go with the traditional art of warli painting. Not only it was the best fir for the red walls, it also preserved the entire concept of the cafe.
2. Understanding the Target Audience:
Consider the preferences and interests of the target audience when designing a mural. The content should resonate with the demographic the brand is aiming to attract and engage. So, a brand trying to capture kids will have more of kids centric elements while a brand trying to capture young age group will have something funky or trendy. Each age group responds or gets attracted to different elements. I painted a couple of murals for a co-living brand. Since the people living there are young working professionals, the murals were aligned to make them feel relatable.
3. Versatility for Different Spaces:
Commercial spaces often have diverse areas, from lobbies to conference rooms. Choose mural designs that can be adapted to different spaces while maintaining a cohesive brand message. This is really important if there are multiple murals being planned. All the walls can have different themes or designs, but they must have some elements that binds them together and makes the entire space feel like one. Each wall is unique, but also the part of a bigger space as a whole.
The Impact of Mural Art on Customer Experience:
1. Enhancing Atmosphere and Ambiance:
Murals contribute to the overall atmosphere of a commercial space. Whether it's a restaurant, retail store, or office, the right mural can enhance the ambiance, making it more inviting and enjoyable for customers. Blank walls are never attractive. Even a single creative stroke can uplift the mood of the entire space. Here are some before and after pictures to give you a better idea.
2. Fostering Positive Emotions:
Thoughtfully designed murals have the ability to evoke positive emotions in customers. This emotional connection can translate into improved customer satisfaction and loyalty. Let's understand this with a scenario. A store selling kids related products, when have different motherly images, or kids images around, will have a huge positive impact on the parents and will make them feel more connected to the products.
3. Promoting Social Media Engagement:
Instagrammable murals are a trend that many businesses are leveraging. A visually appealing mural encourages customers to share their experience on social media, organically expanding brand reach. Any creative spot where customers can get themselves clicked will attract more customers. With the use of 3D designs and interactive murals, boring blank walls can be transformed into customer magnets. Wings are the biggest example of this.
Mural art in any space is a dynamic and versatile tool that goes beyond aesthetics, but for commercial spaces, it becomes more significant. It serves as a visual storyteller, creating an immersive brand experience that resonates with customers. By carefully selecting and strategically placing murals, collaborating with skilled artists, and measuring the impact on customer engagement, businesses can leverage the magic of mural art to elevate their brand identity and create a truly memorable customer experience.
